MARSHMALLOW:

Plant name: Althea officinalis 

   

Active constituents:  polysacchariedes, mucilage, starch, pectin, saccharose, flavanoids 

   

Medicinal Properties:  

  • Reduces inflammation, soothes ulcers, alleviates both diarrhea and constipation, and restores the integrity of tight junctions 
  • Research suggests that the mucilage content creates a protective layer of tissue on the lining of the digestive tract. Marshmallow root may also stimulate the cells that support tissue regeneration.
