Active constituents: caffeic acid esters such as chlorogenic, dicaffeoyltartaric (chicoric acid) and monocaffeoyltartaric acids

- Antioxidant: Due to the higher polyphenol content, the leaf extract was a more effective hydrogen donor, reducing agent and hydrogen peroxide scavenger compared to the root extract
- Allergy: anti-allergic activity by measuring the release of - hexosaminidase which occurs concomitantly with the release f histamine when mast cells are immunologically activated.
