DANDELION:

Plant name: Taraxacum officinale 

   

Active constituents:  caffeic acid esters such as chlorogenic, dicaffeoyltartaric (chicoric acid) and monocaffeoyltartaric acids  

   

Medicinal Properties:  

• Anti-inflammatory: suppressed TNF- production by inhibiting interleukin-1 production 
• Antioxidant:  Due to the higher polyphenol content, the leaf extract was a more effective hydrogen donor, reducing agent and hydrogen peroxide scavenger compared to the root extract 
• Allergy:  anti-allergic activity by measuring the release of - hexosaminidase which occurs concomitantly with the release f histamine when mast cells are immunologically activated.
